"I start to philosophize or joke about this for the following reason: When I was a teenager, I wanted to have all the games in the world, finish Street Fighter Alpha 10 times over, breeze through Final Fight in one sitting, and dig out the Master System again to play my old games.
Back then, it was easy. My only responsibility was to be home early, get "decent" grades, and shower at least every third day, something easy to achieve. In summary, I had plenty of time. My girlfriend only consumed 3 hours of my day, so if I ate in front of the TV, I could even recover more time to dedicate to gaming.
What I didn't have was the money to buy all the games or accessories I wanted. Mine is a middle-class family that allocated their income to household goods and feeding three children who ate like locusts.
Years passed like in many RPGs, and little Marko turned into a handsome warrior, a white steed in the form of an Atos by Dodge, denim armor, and most importantly, hundreds of gil to spend in some tavern with a lady of exotic name or on some mall strawberry princess.
So far, Sir Mark Van Blue has life sorted out, but there's a small detail now: the most precious asset for him, and the one he has the least of, is time, damn it!
Well, friends, many of you will have the same problem: there's money but no time. That new game stays on the shelf, unopened even in its original wrapper, for lack of time in the day to dedicate to it. Sometimes you can steal a bit of time from sleeping hours and make progress in God of War, but paying the price the next day by looking like a "House of the Dead" zombie and being completely drained at work or school.
I know of nerds who can spend a week sleeping only 2 hours a day and devote themselves to studying and video games, but we humans lack that capacity. Theirs is a more advanced species; they do without that thing called "sexual reproduction," so they don't have to waste time trying to reproduce or practicing it, hence they have more time and energy, because going to work after a night of fighting is not easy.
Well, now I have that problem. My games pile up mercilessly, unfinished on my shelf. For the first time, I have extra memory to save games. I don't have to delete anything because I simply don't progress in anything. I'm thinking of dedicating a sabbatical year to all those games that have been left behind.
Teenagers of the world, listen to me! Enjoy yourselves now while you have time! Get drunk, play! For one day, the sands of time will cover you, and on that day, you will remember that you were once the kings of time.
And now I leave you because I brought my GBA to the office, and I'll finish a game or two."
